Baseball and the Beach...

This past weekend the 7 Power Cross boys who are on the Statesville All-Star team were able to compete in the SouthEast Regional tournament. The boys won the NC state tournament two weekends ago. The regional was held in Winterville, NC which was about 4 hours from us. After our tournament play ended (no we didn't win!) we decided to make the most of our location and drive on over to the coast. We were privileged to take Quatravious and Jesaye to see the ocean for the first time. Ausar was also along for the trip, he was able to go with us last year to see the beach for the first time. He said the second time was even better. Q-tra and Jesaye were all smiles. There are probably no other smiles on earth that make me quite as happy as those of Jesaye and Qtra. They were a little timid at first, but by the end of our time Q-tra was trying his hand at all kinds of new adventures.

Power Cross Facility

We have been blessed to have the services of the amazing Brad Hill and the Schenkle Shultz firm, in the design of our Power Cross facility. This week Brad was able to email me over a rendering of our future facility. Were a long way off, but it's amazing to see everything taking place! Thank you Brad for all of your hard work!

More about the baseball camp coming soon...

PC Baseball Camp

All the campers and coaches in our awesome Under Armour outfits.

Power Cross Boys with KP and Hunter

Our Awesome Coaching Staff!

This week we were so blessed to have our first Power Cross Baseball camp.
I'm just going to be honest and say that it was the best baseball camp there has ever been pretty much anywhere in the world. Or at least it felt that way to everyone who attended! We had the most amazing staff of coaches. CJ Stewart and Kevin Whiteside came up from Diamond Directors out of Georgia to instruct the camp. Carl Parker and Mike and Shane Grubbs, from the Athletes to Champions foundation, came up from Jacksonville, Florida. Carl also brought along one of his past players, Hunter Scantling, who will be playing at Florida State next year. Friday Kyle Parker was able to drive up from Clemson, to help the guys on their final day. Then off course we have PC's own Coach Jeff.

I have so many wonderful pictures of the boys and coaches in action that I'm going to put together a few collages and load them up tomorrow. I have a lot of the images loaded on the Power Cross website, www.powercross.org under the galleries section. There is a new gallery labeled Baseball camp. The boys are also working on their top ten moments from Power Cross camp. Tomorrow I will do a big post with all kinds of fun camp stuff.

I mainly just wanted to get this post up today to say thank you to everyone who attended, coached, and helped with the camp. We were blessed to have our lunches taken care of each day by members of The Cove church, where Jeff and my family attend. Under Armour helped us surprise each camper with not one, but two complete outfits! All of the coaches passed on a world of knowledge to each of the campers! It was a wonderful week we'll never forget!

STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

The North Piedmont All-Star team is the State Champion!! The PC Boys and the area All-Star team traveled to Liberty,NC on Friday. The team went through the tournament with a 4-2 record. The boys played as a strong team unit. We made it through to the Championship game on Monday night. We played the All-Star team from South Buncombe (Asheville area). We were the away team and were up 3-0 after two innings. Then the bats came alive. We were up 7-0 after the third inning. The fourth inning we went ahead 11-0. T.J. pitched a complete game No Hitter. With his infield picking him up, and Ausar framing the pitches the team was just to good to be beat!

The boys have had a great season so far. If the funding comes in for the team they will travel to the SouthEast regional tournament in two weeks. The Power Cross members of the All-Star team make up the Catcher, Two Pitchers, Short Stop, Third Baseman, and Three Outfielders. The Power Cross boys are the first four batters in the lineup! I think it's clear to see what an awesome job Coach Jeff has done! As soon as the game was over, after the team dog pile, it was Coach Jeff that they all wanted to hug! Of course I was there to get a picture! I hope you enjoy the images below. The boys had a fun shaving cream fight to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone who has made recent Power Cross donations. We had 6 boys in a hotel for 3 nights, gas to Liberty, and food for three days. We wouldn't have been able to do that without your support!

The best part is seeing the boys pray and thank God before the game for the ability and pray after the game to give him glory and praise!

The final pitch to a perfect game!
The chaos after the last out!

Hugs all around for Coach Jeff, his glasses
were hiding his teary eyes!

Future Power Cross member...

We wanted to post a picture of the newest future Power Cross member. Qtra and Jesaye were excited to welcome their 22nd brother into the world. Lucky for the boys they don't all live in the same house. We're sure that Britton will one day join his brothers at Power Cross.

I also have a prayer request for anyone reading. We have four boys whose homes are being evaluated by social services. It's a hard thing to be apart of, and we just ask that you'll pray for the boys to be safe and to know they are loved. Thank you so much.

On another note, the PC Boys on the All Star baseball team are playing tonight for the Area 5 Championship. They have qualified for the State tournament by making it to tonight's game. So far the boys are still unbeaten!! We'll keep you posted tomorrow on how the games turn out. We play at 6:00 eastern.

God Bless,
Jeff, Nat, and the PC boys
